Looking for a lacky

11 22nd, 2006 Author: Administrator

Well today was a first, I have been interviewing for a lacky. Basically we are in need of a webmonkey. The work load that I have been given I am clearly not keeping up with. So we posted a job on monster and have been interviewing.
This is a real first for me. I've never interviewed anyone in my whole life and I'm suprisingly good at it. We booked in two people , the first one was a girl called Rebecca Coleman who didn't even bother to turn up. We waited around, but she couldn't even be bother to give us a call to say, “Hi this is Rebecca Coleman I can't be naffed to come along.“. So It was a bit of a wasted trip that one for me.
The second guy was lovely, just not really what we were looking for, I in part feel sorry for him, because he wanted to be a web developer, however he didn't really have any experience, had done a degree in media, which is the kiss of death in the job market. The thing with developer is it is a vskill which is very much learnt over time, and at the begining hiring a devloper with no experience would take ages to get him up to a level where he was useful. He kept say I would be very willing to to go on any course you want. The problem is in this age, you don't really have time to invest in people like that, I don't wan to pay to train him, I just want someone to do the job. Plus I've been ona lot of thoose course and god they are a pile of crap, mostly.

Finally we seem to be progressing with the site.
Well I've totally finished the omnilux pages

Their seems to be changes going on in the search engines. They have put together filters to identify links that are being paid for and pervent them from passing page rank. So with this in mind what can webmaster selling links do?

So there are some simple things that you could do to lower the chances the filter would pick up the link, for example remove any ‘sponsored links' or ‘advertisements' captions that go about the links. Also placing them in blocks of text or within the navigation, at the very least don't clump them all together.

Recently the most talked about form of internet marketing is to submit article to website design to distribute free website content. So in theory you write an article add a link to your website and then nice friendly webmasters put it on thier website for all their visitors to see. So you get the greatly sort after one way relevant links, and you also get you website plugged on another website.

Which sounds perfect what with the constant rumours about reciprocal linking being dead.

I'm am still to be convinced, this is the new holy grail of internet marketing. Internet marketing via article writing in my opinion is far from easy.

Recently I have been involved in a thread on the webmasters talk forum wether outgoing links reduce a websites Page Rank. The discussion went on for ages continuously covering the same points a guy called chrishirst refused to admit he was wrong, must have been hard to admit your wrong to a seemingly newbi. His total belief that:

NO NO NO NO NO! The calculation is for incoming links to page A. the outgoing links on page A are not factored into the calculations so they cannot have even the slightest effect on the value.
