The foundation of any marketing campaign should be the people who you want to sell, your product or service. Most the time the general market is obvious, for example if you have designed a new type of golf bag, your general market is golf players. However you can limit the field more if your golf bag is diamond incrusted then their is no point selling it to any old golf players, you are looking for the market segment of the Extremely Rich, Vain and stupid golf players. Best try supermodels who like golf. God know how you would reach this market segment, unless their is a publication entitled ‘How to look fabulous of the golf course for retards weekly.’

Anyway in this example we are looking at E-Hive, now e-hive suffers from being too flexible, the product is a website that will do anything. Basically they are trying to put the name on the point that they build dynamic websites.

So these are the people that they are looking for:

People with a good business idea.
People who have a serious amount of money to invest.
People who have a tested good business sense.
People from the UK
People who are web savvy.
People who are innovative.

So good groups to look at would be:

Previously successful entrepreneurs.
Businesses looking to expand
