Punk!! A bunch of us went to Punk Karaoke yesterday at Upstairs@The Garage in Highbury , it was amazing! It is a basically a punk gig however the lead singer is you, and everyone else in the room.. It the once (well twice monthly) chance to sing? We had lovenoise alum poets Tia and Dante' get off with a live band. It happen ever two weeks, and is totally over subscribed.
The band do about four hours of songs, including your faorite old school punk and nu-skool tunes in a punk rock style. Don't worry about forgetting the words, they have a hidden autocue, so you can still look cool. I swear it is one of the most knacking, sweaty, loud night out in London.
The only major problem is the quality, not like christmas party karaoke where anyone can muster your way through some old 'Bryan Adams' stuff. Most the people who go up are incredible some of them actually are singer in bands. The best parts were Lou doing 'Top of the pops' and Joeanne ruining 'Gay Bar'. Punk is NOT DEAD!
